The Board of Intermediate and secondary Education Faisalabad were established in 1988. Before, its establishment, the intermediate and matriculation examination used to be conducted under BISE Board Sargodha. The Board is responsible for renewing, developing, reforming, planning, strategizing and generating academic policies of Faisalabad Division and its jurisdiction areas. The head office of the board is situated in Faisalabad. The board holds a ceremony of awarding scholarships and medals for position holders and deserving candidates every year for 10th and 12th classes, in its head office.
BISE Faisalabad Board has responsibilities such as: To organize and conduct examinations pertaining to Intermediate Education, Secondary Education, Pakistani and Classical Languages and such other examinations as determined by the government, to concord, deny or cancel certification of its affiliated Educational Institutions, To ascertain and establish conditions for appointment to various examinations held by the Board., To allocate certificates and diplomas to the deserving candidates, To refit, demand and receive fee as per the prescription of Ministry of Education of Pakistan, , Awarding of scholarships, medals and prizes to position holders and deserving candidates, To arrange and promote extra curriculum activities, Creation of posts and appointing of such staff as may be considered necessary for the purpose of its functions; provided that a post in Bs-17 or above, shall be created with a prior approval of the Controlling Authority and also to facilitate its affiliated institutes with building and equip its premises with necessary furniture, apparatus, books and other means required for carrying out the purposes of the Act.

Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Jaranwala and Faisalabad Division are jurisdiction of BISE Board Faisalabad. Faisalabad is one the most populated city of Pakistan. As per calculation, it comes at 3rd position in terms of population. The literacy rate of Faisalabad is quite low than other cities of Pakistan. The literacy rate of Faisalabad district at primary level was calculated 51% in 2008. The reason of low illiteracy rate has been concluded to be lack of financial resources and pressure of family.
Although, the fee of public schools is near to zero, the government has also adopted many reforming academic policies for encouragement of student enrollment in the area; still more concretes measures must be taken. Keeping the factor of rising population of the area in the view, the standards of education are not enough to meet the needs.
BISE Board Faisalabad has adopted modern and international standards of examination. It has introduced online monitoring of examination halls, computerized roll number and results registration, announcement of date sheets and results schedule to stake holders via sms and interlinking of data transmission of all its branches through the means of local network.
The board is also providing scholarships to deserving candidates for books and admissions in further classes. All the results and examinations held by BISE Board Faisalabad have been unbiased and conducted with utter fairness. Around 2000 schools and 600 colleges are affiliated to BISE Faisalabad Board.
