PEC has responsibility to issue roll number slips, register students belonging from all 37 districts of Punjab, organize examinations centers, prescribe checking and scoring criterion, deliver results and conclude annual report based on results. PEC was established in 2002 to originate an examination system in Punjab that would ensure unbiased and fair examination for 5th and 8th classes that has to be serving same standards to its all candidates.

Although, the 5th and 8th class PEC examinations have not been made compulsory by the government of Punjab but a few schools have added this exception in their school regulatory. Those students who have appeared in PEC examinations have certainly an academic edge over the students who have not appeared in PEC examinations. At such an early education level of 5th class, the students get an exposure of competing with thousands of candidates. It certainly builds their confidence, give them an understanding of representing themselves well and also earn them an ability to have a healthy competition.

Besides, providing a fair and transparent examination, PEC is giving a certified examination platform to private candidates. The private candidates who are unable to attend a regular schooling system can avail this platform of education and move ahead in their academic careers. PEC examinations are ensuring uniformity of education in Punjab. Ever since it’s established, PEC has performed quite well at executing all of its functions.

PEC receives registrations for 5th class and 8th class examinations in a large scale. After the announcement of results, PEC has established an online complain cell to register any complain or reservation regarding checking of papers. The students have given an option to recheck their papers after the results. PEC has a well organized online system of results and registration for the benefit of students.

Each year, an annual report is prepared to evaluate progress and weaknesses found in different districts of Punjab for 5th and 8th classes. According to this report, Punjab government takes actions and eliminates weaknesses through making amendments and initiating new policies. PEC is performing a role of governmental tool to ensure quality of education is being delivered to its assigned classes as per the prescribed manner of the Punjab Government.

5th class date sheet will be declared by the Punjab Examination Commission for all Punjab. Peace stated its duties in 2005 and take the first examination in 2006. This will increase the interests of students in education. There are 36 districts registered in Punjab Board list. The registered districts are Lahore, Gujrawala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Dera Gazi Khan, Attock, Sheikhupura, Toba Tek singh, Behari, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Mainwali, Muzzafarabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Khanewale, Khushab, Layyah, Gujrat, Haffazabad, Lodhran, Mandi Bahaudin, Narowal, Nankana Shahib, Okara and Rahim Yar Khan.
